Found a very cool piece of wood.

I have found a very cool piece of wood out in the desert while looking for rocks, and was wondering if I could use it?

It looks to me Mesquite wood.

Is this a usable wood? Or not?

Pics? Without them we cannot be sure, but hey, I use wood I find on the side of the road, at the beach, and in rivers, so meh....

I wouldn't be sure about it if you found it in the desert...

I'd say go for it. Clean it and watch your parameters. If ammonia spikes it's probably rotting, so just take it out.

Mesquite is very hard. It will take a lot of soaking to sink it. Make sure you remove any and all bark.
