I have a 55g and I was wondering if I got two Firemouths, two Convicts, Two JD's and a Pictus cat would have enough room in a 55g

They would all fit as juvies, but they won't work as adults. And if you get a pair of any of those it won't matter anyway, as the pair will be the only ones left. I would go with 1 of each fish listed, and hope the JD isn't a real aggressive one.

IMHO Each of the pairs listed would be borderline on too much in a 55. one each would work for a while (as would all six when they are babies). If you avoided matched pairs as mentioned above, you may get away with it for a little longer, but it really isn't enough tank for these fish once they get bigger. Sounds like a great tank combo though. You just need a lot more room to make it work long term.
