I agree that male honeys are handsome, especially when in breeding colors. I don't know the "proper" m/f ratio, but I can tell you have 10 honeys in a 20-gallon and they are do just fine. I have 8 males and 2 females. The girls are the largest fish in the group and definitely don't take any guff from the boys. My tank is heavily planted with lots of wood and hide-holes.
Have you tried mating any of them? I've had one successful mating, but alas, only two boys survived. Would love to get more girls. If you succeed in mating and get any girls, I'd be very interested in buying some from you!
