Just setup a tank and put the LR in and noticed this little guy. He is about 3mm long on the tube part. What is it?? And what should i feed it (assuming it is a good thing to have). Thanks

Ummm... It's really hard to say from this picture and withouth a visual representation of scale - but if that's only about 5mm tall total.. I'm gonna guess pest anemone. But I can't really tell. Any better pics?

Looks like a Majano Anemone. Not something most people want in their tanks.

Thanks for the ID. Upon reading up on majano anemones or others, it sounds like you can't just pluck them off the rock. What is the best way to get rid of this bugger?

I filled a needle with lemon juice and injected it directly into the mouth. It took 2 injections for one of my Majanos and just one for the other.

That or if you want to smother it in kalkwasser paste. And when I say smother, I mean cover the hole thing in a mound of thick past and let it sit for 15 to 30 minutes with no flow. Try and cover the enter top of the disc first. After the nem is about melted take a turkey baster and suck up the mound of paste and kick on your pumps.
