I just installed my AquaC Remora Pro skimmer with the Mag Drive 3 pump.

The pump is physically WAY too big for my little 37g tank and looks funny, not to mention noisy.

I have three questions:

1: Can i put the pump externally and run flex tubes in/out of the pump?

2: If i can not, then i need a pump that is much smaller (any ideas)?

3: If i have this skimmer, do i still need my fluval 304 canister filter?

Thank you,

Oh, hope it is ok to post this here.

1) Not sure. As long as the air is still being injected into the central column, you should be able to, though. One concern I would have would be the heat factor--external pumps tend to run a bit warmer.

2) Aqua Clear powerheads work well--you can get an 802 that should be more than adequate, and quiet, but it will have to run submersed.

3) Skimmers perform a different task than power filters. If the tank has enough rock and sand for biological filtration, and you weren't using it for mechanical filtration, then you can remove it. If you were running it empty for water current--I guess I'd leave it on, just because I like lots of water movement.
