I've always used API be it the reef kit or the freshwater kit, occasionally I see good deals on other brands, anyone use or tried other brands? Got a couple liquids fixing to expire soon and a local shop has some kits on sale I think one is from Instant Ocean(has a clown fish on it) and Red Sea kits.

I have used Salifert and the Red Sea Pro kits in addition to API. I like both but the Red Sea is a bit easier to read the results. API is fine for ammonia, trites and trates but the titration tests (like salifert and red sea) for Ca, Mg and alkalinity are more accurate IME.

API is fine for most needs, but if you are running a reef or planted tank where you are testing more specific things I would go with a higher quality brand.
