    i'm partial to males, but that's not to say i wouldn't pick up a female if one stole my heart.

    I prefer males, but I just bought my first female betta a few months ago just to try. She is very calm and hides in my one plant in my 37g with y angels and gourmai.
    Marineland 37g: 1 EBR, 1 GBR, 9 Rummynose Tetras, 5 Kuhli Loaches, 1 Spotted Bulldog Pleco, 2 SA bumblebee Catfish, 1 Dragonscale HM Betta
    Planted Aqueon 20g: 15 Harlequin Rasboras, 3 otos, 5 guppies, GBR pair, Male Crowntail Betta, Bamboo shrimp, Hillstream Loach

    I prefer males they generally have the better fins since they have to attract a female. Overall they just look cooler.

    I think I prefer them both. I've never had a female before because I haven't found quite the right one yet but I do aspire.
