Small hole drilled in side opposite of lamp for supplemental cfl, taken out – tape seems to work well on plugging hole. Missing the clear lamp cover.

Blast from the past! Do you remember when you put it away if it was noisy or not? Those older filters used a ton of magnet on the impeller compared to the new ones, which are now mostly plastic. I feel like the new impellers are crap and the old ones stood up to wear much better, every newer filter I've gotten besides ACs gets unbearably noisy after just a few years, whereas my first Marineland filters (even the cheapy Walmart versions) lasted for much longer and stayed quiet.
