Hello AC community:

I thought it would be time to get a journal up now that I have some progress going. I have had this tank for about a year now, with a few tear downs/re-do's.

I started out with a 20 gal RCS tank that is still up and running, but is now at my Grandmas with my first Fluval 205 filter and now has Gold fish. Then during one of petco's $1 per gallon sale I picked up a 40B. The tank sat in a corner of my room for a few months til I saved up enough to buy a the rest.

I do light cleaning w/ 30% weekly water changes

Equipment list:

Black Pine Stand
Fluval 405 filter
ZooMed 36' dual T5HO light
60lbs of Eco-complete
150watt heater

Red LED Marina light
Green LED Marina light
Milwaukee 957 regulator
10lbs Bottle
Glass diffuser
Digital Thermometer
Stainless Steel intake Strainer

Fauna List:

11 - Pygmy Cories
09 - Galaxy Rasboras
04 - Scarlet Badis Badis

I like the background, neat idea! can't wait to see how it turns out- I'm thinking about doing something like this in my own 40.

looks pretty neat. probably a lack on post as the tank itself is no real conversation starter, and you really have not posed any questions for people to comment on. I would put more plants below the waterline.. something like a stem plant or a lotus that can grow up and out of the water would be cool, and your shrimps wouldnt mind more to graze on as well. imo.

Very nice looking tank! Good job. 400 shrimp? Wow!
I also like the look of the slate, did you use aquarium silicone or something else to secure it?
I'm very new to planted tanks and I'm starting up a 40B, too.

thanks, I used the aquarium silicone. One thing though, it's near impossible to keep clean. So I just let the shrimp have at it.
