Gulf Coast Pygmy Sunfish/Brown Darter
Took some pics for an aquabid auction today and some turned out pretty good so I thought I'd share.
Brown Darter

E.Gilberti Male

Young male/sub colors

Adult male going dark

Same fish in a brighter light, dim lighting/background/tannin water seems to make them stay dark.

Adult female with a belly full of bloodworms.

Gorgeous little fish Dave.
MarkWhat are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue. Robert Anson Heinlein

Thanks Wes, the pics are tinged a bit yellow because I've been adding tannins to see if it helps them get more comfortable. I have always kept them in regular soft tap water, so we'll see, they come from some nearly pitch black water sometimes.

Maybe one day, if enough people start breeding them in aquaria they'll probably be common fare in the next decade. They spawn readily so it shouldn't be much of an effort.
