Since August 2011 I have had some bad luck. Today it continued. Sitting in the basement talking with Tommy I looked at my Dovi tank and did not see the male. I had moved the light some yesterday and did not return it to its normal position. The only think I could say is please Lord not today. Looked and found him about 7 feet from the tank. I threw him back in but he was dead. I had him since 3/18/2008 when he was only 1.5 inch. Today he is a true 14 inches. HE was stunning beautiful and was the perfect mate for the female. The recently laid eggs started hatching today. I do not know if I will keep the female. Since I do not believe in inbreeding I know I will not mate her with any of the fry. I really feel something is trying my patience, maybe something is telling me to give this up.

Man, that truly sucks...he was a nice looking fish. I've lost more fish to 'carpet surfing' than in any other way, it seems.

Wow, awesome fish! It's too bad about his untimely loss though. So what will you do with the female? If you gave her away would you keep the fry?

Wow truly beautiful fish! Sorry for your loss. Raise the fry and hopefully you will get their fathers clones! All I can say is look past the losses and try to move on. Just keep doing what you do. I believe you will get some amazing babies and possibly some clones! Good Luck!

Today I went to Aquarium Center in Clemmenten NJ. Picked up 4 Dovi. They are 2 1/8" to 2 1/4". Here is a couple photos of them being measured. I will post photos later with them in the 150 gallon.
