Anybody know what this fish is? I had it a while back but had an accident with the tank and he was a casualty. Never got an ID on him but temperament was great. Started at 1 1/2", grew to over 3". The side facing the camera is the one with his dead eye...he couldnt see at all from it, thats why it is so small.

Pirate Perch, Aphredoderus sayanus. I take it you caught the fish yourself? Btw not a Catfish at all, more closely related to Cavefish.

Also definitely not the perch. Different coloring, finnage, and mouth.

A Pirate Perch is not really a Perch. Look up "Pirate Perch", and you'll see. But on a second look that fish has a large adipose fin. Some sort of Madtom Catfish.

Closer, but the caudal fin is different. I would really like to get a second one, if it is feasible. It came from a shipment from seagrest.

Then you can bet it's a Madtom. They're a not too infrequent contaminant in Ghost Shrimp and other feeders that come out of FL. There's a few species native to FL. Check this guy out:http://www.aquaculturestore.com/fwverts.html

The closest I've had anyone suggest was mystus sp....possibly vittatus. Too many stripes though. It's on the availability, but I'm starting to think its a hybrid of some sort
