i plan on a lot of fairly large rocks in my 120 and was wondering if it would be good to put eggcrate below the sand?

I would...helps relieve pressure points on the glass bottom and helps protect it incase you have fish that like to dig......

I'd say eggcrate is a must for rocks that weigh over 8 lbs. Put the rocks on the eggcrate first, followed by the substrate.
