Vals are easy to grow and are low tech. I think your Flourish is killing them. I have LOTSSS of val, and know from experience that Flourish Excel kills them.
PS--My water is very soft and low in PH.100gal Tetra and plant tank --20 Cardinals, 7 Neons, 12 Emporer Tetras, 12 Black Phantoms (and one baby), 4 Angels, 8 corys (Robinea), and 4 Bushy-noses.
120 gal Barbs and guramis with plants--13 Snakeskin barbs, 16 Brass Tetras, 16 Bleeding Hearts, 12 Calico Tetras, 3 Pearl Gouramis (only one male), 8 corys (Axlerodi), and 2 BN plecos.

Excel at full dose can kill Vals, but I've NEVER had issues with them and dosing Flourish comp.

I've never tried myself...based on the tank setup I did fairly infrequent dosing.
But if this is not excel then there should be no issues dosing.

Thanks for posting those pics, gives me a much better idea of how they look in a good tank as opposed to the stuff I'd found on google.
