So the guy that bought this paid over $500 a few years ago and it was recommended for his salt tank. It works fine and comes with the bulbs and he is charging $75. I'm not passing it up no matter what. Just too good of a deal. I had given up on a reef because there will just never be the day I have $600 to blow on a lighting fixture (at least in my impatience filled timeline) so even if I have to add more lighting to this to make it a reef I'll probably save money.

Anyway on to the question at hand. Can you tell just by looking what type of fixture this is? All I know is it is an 8 bulb fixture and 6 feet long

No idea for manafactuer, tough to say with out any reference to the thickness of the bulbs what type they are as well, if you find out the bulb wattage or total fixture wattage then it can be called.

Yeah I figured as much. If this was the specific lighting I was looking for this would be the deal of the century for me after totally turning myself off of a reef. As I said, I'm gonna buy it regardless so I'll update this thread with any info found on the actual fixture when I get back with it on Tuesday (he said he didn't know anything about it except that a tore told him it is what he needed)

Dual power compacts, great for reef and corals. The white could be as high as 10K and the blue ones are actinic. white might be in the 8-10K range and the blue in about 420~ range. Looksl like its 2 tubes per segment and a total of 4 segments. If you could gives us the numbers on the tubes we can tell you for sure. Also eaier if you can tell us the arrangement of the bulbs.

Looks like your standard power compact with 4 36 inch bulbs. Looks like 2 actinic and 2 10000k bulbs (that's just a guess) good for low to medium light corals. And yeah that is a pretty good deal.

It's a great deal until you have to purchase new tubes/bulbs/lamps.
36 inch power compact lamps are getting expensive. You're looking at about $100.00 for a set of new bulbs.

Don't waste your time with that. With the selection of t5s, not to mention LEDs, power compacts arent really the way to go.

Going to pick up the lights today instead of Tuesday. Will update with any info I can. Let's hope this lighting is adequate enough for me to have some sort of reef without too much limitation =)

I just can't pass it up. Even if I can only keep a few corals it is my only chance at decent lighting for the tank. I will never afford fixtures at $500+ and will probably never find someone willing to go under $100 on one again.
