At the moment i have a 3 foot long tank, and wanted to upgrade the lighting, i have access to an aqua one MG1500 for a good price but it is 5ft long. I will probably upgrade to a 5ft tank in the next year or two anyway but do you think i will have any problems if i use it on the 3 ft?

Thanks in advance[h=1][/h]

If its a good deal I would do it. Or pick it up and trade for a smaller light?

Its alot of light spillover but if your ok with that, also make sure the fixture is suspended an adequate distance above the tank halides are hot I've seen results of people melting the top frame or the middle support because of they had the fixture to close to the tank.

I have a 4ft light on a 40 breeder, but as long as the light doesn't sit on the trim, it should be fine. If it's too close, it can melt/crack it.
