    My crazy tank idea

So...I was thinking of getting a BIG square tank. And also a small one but just as tall if not taller, to put inside the bigger tank! Then either add snails and plants to the inside tank. The outer tank would or could have slow moving fish or a large single species of schoolers. What do you think?

how would you keep the tanks separate

snails can be pretty sneaky and some fish would certainly try and break in

not to mention having to clean both sides of the glass for the inner tank

See this is why I posted, to see if I didn't think about the bigger picture completely.

The inner tank would have a glass lid to stop escape artist (in theory). And I guess a custom two piece plexy glass for the outer tank with the center cut out around the inner tank.

My big question is stress...since the outer tank would have no decor to hide in or around, would that frazzle them?

In my mind this looks very unique, but if anyone see's issues feel free to post em.

To me it sounds like a disaster waiting to happen... To many different parts + water = water all over

that does sound pretty cool!!! see my original idea was to have a bearded dragon or something in the middle, but I figured keeping it the right temp without over heating the tank might be an issue.

don't worry patrick, I still have enough courage to try new things without fear leading my decisions. plus nothing parties like a rental, and I don't own where I stay so...LMAO.

If you were to put something non-aquatic in the inner tank, how would you keep the air in it? would the top of that tank be above the top of the water level of the outer? I guess I'm having a hard time picturing the layout here. Though I did come across this the other day which is kinda like your idea: http://www.instructables.com/id/Unde...fiddler-crabs/ Thought that was pretty cool, but I think it needs some sort of way for the air in the jar to escape without having to overflow the jar and bubble up. Some way for there to be a somewhat constant airflow to prevent the air from getting stale.

Are you going to run two filters on this and heaters? One for the inside tank and one for the outside tank?
