think I might need to swap out my pump I currently still using 5000 non-pro version. Might need to get a new pump should I go for pro or on non-pro anyone have any experience with the pro pumps?

Thanks

From the information you gave I'd say you wear a size 9 1/2 shoe in a D width. What size tank? What do you want the pump to do? Why do you feel the 5000 isn't doing it?

SubRosa I do wear a size 9 1/2. :) But sorry didn't leave much info. Tank is a 120 gal return is split into 2 return tubes with 4 nozzles going back into the tank. For some reason yesterday was making sounds after a water change. Then I turned it off and turned it back on. It stopped and saw plastic piece shot out. Lucky it was not the impeller. Pump is still working, but want to get a new pump just in-case. I feel that the 5000 is not enough flow on return maybe because of the 2 splits and 4 nozzle, flow might be cut down because of it. Tank is a freshwater planted tank, with Altums. Aqueon ProFlex Sump model 4 and the pump is sitting inside sump, maybe some

Moved this one out of the marine section. Maybe you'll get some more responses in the freshy forum.

A properly operating 5000 will handle that tank nicely. Altums aren't appreciative of high flow. I would definitely investigate what that piece of plastic was all about!

Why not disassemble your 5000 and see what's what? It won't cost you anything but time, and it might save you the cost of a new pump.
