German Blue Rams and Betta?

I've heard of several people keeping a male betta and german blue rams together.

My idea is for a community tank with several species. I have a 55g tank so the larger size always helps. I was going to introduce a pair of rams first and the betta last to help minimize his territorial aggression.

What does everyone here think?

With a tank that size I doubt you will have any problems. Bettas are generally surface dwellers and rams are generally bottom dwellers. I doubt they would even interact at all. Make sure you still keep an eye on everyone though and have a backup plan in case there is any major aggression.
