I just switched from black sand to white sand from an established tank. I left the original water in. Though I know this messed up the tanks cycle. How long do you think it would take to be safe to add the fish back to the tank? Do I need to do a complete cycle even though the filters and original water is still in the tank? Hope I wasn't to confusing.

If the original filters are still on the tank, add the fish but be persistent about checking up on any possible ammonia or nitrite spikes from a mini cycle. Do water changes when necessary.

The bacteria have a doubling time of about 24 hours, so since you have a good start with the colony in your filters (little to none are free swimming in the water column) it shouldn't take long.
