So I haven't seen my senegals in a while. I'm pretty sure they've passed or gotten out of the tank and got killed by the dogs. There were very small holes in the hood where old canisters went and I didn't think they could escape but maybe they could've. I want to buy some larger ones or some ropes this time but how should makes sure they're gone? I don't wanna overstock of they are still there.

Have you completely taken all of the decor out of the tank? Have you looked behind the aquarium?

I have looked behind the tank but I haven't taken out the decor. Some of the rocks are pretty big and before I rescaped the whole tank I wanted to see if there was an easier way.

The case of a disappearing fish in the aquarium. Or in this case, eels?

I have heard that they are pretty good at hiding.

The few options I can think of

take everything out and look.
Try putting food out for them in areas they may be hiding.
do option 2 but set up a camera to see when you arent watching the tank.

Other than that, I dont think you have much of an option.

Def cover the holes where the old canister stuff used to go. You could even do it with window screen or just about any other material.
