My new job has me traveling a bit, so I am in Atlanta GA for a couple of months. Luckily for me, I also have access to the Georgia Aquarium! Just wanted to show a few photos, and ask for advice on Atlanta natives on where to go, what to do, and where to eat!

Dolphins are always fun to watch.

The belugas were being cleaned at the time, but I am going to be at the aquarium a lot, so I can get photos of them later.

Any Atlantans out there who can give me suggestions on the area? Other than, don't drive between the hours of 4 and 7, hahaha.

Top of the Westin Hotel (take the outside glass elevator great views), Fernbank Museum and Planetarium, Botanical Garden, Stone Mountain (this weekend is the yellow daisy festival, arts and crafts galore) carving of Confederate Leaders, Lee, Davis and Jackson, Underground Atlanta - walk around shops and restaurants, High Museum - an art museum, Grant Park Zoo, Cyclerama - depicts the civil war, Braves Game (Hey they're America's team), Helen GA for Oktoberfest - a bit of a drive, Phipps Plaza for shopping next to Lenox Mall (in Buckhead), to name a few. The Atlanta Area Aquarium Association is having their fish auction Sept 16 at the Atlanta State Farmers Market in Forest Park, they will have a ton of fish, plants and hardgoods. Tons of places to eat, don't know what you like. Google Atlanta restaurants. Google what's happening in Atlanta for the time you are here. Welcome to the area, hope y'all have a real good time. Nice pictures of the Atlanta Aquarium - great place, we are lucky to have it. Thank you Home Depot success.

Thanks for the suggestions, Brubaker! Several of those places are on my list already...
I have seen the zoo, and obviously the aquarium. I plan to hit up the botanical garden, Fernbank natural history museum, the Center for Puppetry Arts, Chattahooche nature center, Coca Cola World, possibly Stone Mountain.
I didn't get a chance to go to the Yellow Daisy festival. However, they have a Pride festival and parade coming up in October that I plan to attend.
I was told by several locals not to go to Atlanta Underground. It was described as a dead tourist trap, and a great place to get mugged.
Thank you, RB!

Thank you! I have oodles of them, hahaha. And since I keep going, and bringing my camera, I keep taking more photos. By the end of this trip, my laptop will have no memory left!

I was there back in July. A few of the natives knew I was into fish and said "you should check out the aquarium". So, given that I had a couple hours between meetings I naively headed over and quickly determined I wasn't going in as I would be biting off more than I could chew. That place is "massive". It's definately on my list of return stops though.

Yeah, it really is a full day experience. Even a quickish browse of all the exhibits would take over an hour, but to see the shows and REALLY see the exhibits, you had better just plan to spend the day!
