Ram sexing...

Hi I've breed these before and they can be difficult to sex but here is how u sex them. The male's dorsal fin will be un even and will have spikes at the front but the female will have it rounded this is a female
I just bought 2 gbr hoping i have a pair also....mine get along as well, but are very young i was told if theres black on the dorsal fin its a female?

The Rams in question here are Bolivian rams (altispinosa)
the most reliable method to use to sex bolivians is a procedure referred to as Venting..
basically you look at the ovipositors and can determine the sex with visual inspection..
males long, thin pointed.
females short , blunt and rounded at tip.
it is a bit different with ramirezi aka blue rams.. the female will generally have a pink/orange hue to her belly
