Hey guys,

So I decided to make a 10g betta tank that is communal and recently I have been cycling the thank. However, a few days ago the water started to turn cloudy... white/ yellowish cloudy.

I do have a driftwood in it; however the yellowish/ brown is because of the tannins. But, I am not sure where the white cloudiness is coming from.

I have been doing daily water changes of about 30% and it keeps on coming back, I do not know what to do now. My filter is Whisper 10i that I got as a gift...

What could be the problem?

Thank you in advance

the cloudiness is a bacterial bloom. this happens in new tanks and tanks that have recently undergone an increase in fish numbers. it is the bacteria populating enough to handle the conversion of ammonia to nitrites, then to nitrates.

are there currently fish in the tank? and do you have a good quality testing kit to keep track of the parameters? how are you cycling it?
