    Tiger Barb Tank

hey guys, I have a 30gal tank that I just finished fishless cycling and I've added 12 1" tiger barbs to the tank. So far I love the little guys they are really active and fun to watch. I have kept barbs previously, in a 20 gallon long with corys without problems. I added 6 yesterday and they were immediately abused by the barbs. So my question is....what do you guys keep with tiger barbs? or what will work? I've heard people say things from a firemouth cichlid to loaches or danios.. I just have no idea what will actually work. lookin for a straight answer I guess. Tank is 36x12x16 planted with a lot of driftwood.

    I would not add any.

    1) You tank is only 30gals, cannot hold that much more fish.
    2) Most bottom feeders are schoolers---So you cannot just add one or two.
    3) Barbs are very good bottom feeders (Better then tetras), so tough for bottom feeders to get enough to eat with 2 schools of barbs.

There may not be anything you can put in with them, depending on their attitude. once my school got big and settled into the 30 gal, they didn't like any new fish, except a clown loach that was growing out. and the loach seemed to enjoy swimming with them. I never tried adding anything that would fight back like a firemouth... that just doesn't seem like a good idea to me. species-only tanks look great since there are the gold and green varieties.

and it's super fun watching them swarm algae wafers and pellets, but if you have a pleco, you'll have to sneak the wafers to him after lights out.

Well alright. I guess I'm done stocking then. Maybe I'll focus on planting the tank with diverse plants instead.
