I ordered a 6 line wrasse from a LFS for my tank and what came in was an 8 line male wrasse . I paid what he paid bc I didn't want it and the owner didnt want it so I paid $8.50. I'd say its like 3"? Is an 8 line uncommon? What's the deal with this thing because I can't find any info on it.

I believe they aren't reef safe. Which would probably explain the lack of info. That's all I know lol

They're coral safe but not invert safe. It will hunt and eat snails, crabs, shrimp, etc. Basically, you will likely need to replenish your CUC every so often as it kills them off.
A pistol might be ok especially if it has a watchmen goby with it. However, cleaner shrimp, peppermint shrimp, fire shrimp, etc., would be fair game.
I just picked up the "8line wrasse" but it doesn't look like one to me. It has a redish body, and his fun has a yellow and purple line . He has no lines, lighter stripes on his body, blue stripe by his head and the bottom of his head is yellow. Any ideas?
Soo many wrasses. Will need a good pic (which will probably be hard to get) to make an ID. I would google a pic of an 8 line and a 6 line to see what you have.
