Lost fish
Sorry but I have to vent a bit here, I woke up this morning to find all but four fish in my aquarium dead. Spent a good hour getting bodies out of the tank before dosing with prime, I can't do a water change as need to go to work. I have braced myself to loose them all when I have returned....
I am trying to figure out exactly how it went so wrong, I did a w/c two days ago and my pleco hadn't been eating but the other fish were fine. The rummy noses and cardinals were colourful and as playful as usual, the Angels were boisterous and owning the place as they do.
I checked the ammonia in my tap water to see if it was higher than usual...... Off the chart, they must have flushed the system. Feel such an idiot for this happening especially as I had the tank looking incredible and had done everything in the tank perfectly and by the book after making newbie mistakes last time. If the others die I will need to take a long break from fish tanks, will probably sell my tank etc and set it up when I move house to someone permanent.
Sorry but had to vent and I know they are 'only fish' but I am 'only human' and an upset one at that!
Tony

Sorry to hear. I too know about water suddenly having a huge change in chemistry, my ph is 7.5ish normally, after my last w/c it was 8.3...lost a clown loach when it happened. Well good luck and hopefully you don't take it too hard if they don't make it.

It's still lives lost. I'm sorry to hear it. They really should let people know when they do that. I've never been so happy to have well water.
Oh fish sticks, I'm nauseous.

It always sucks to lose fish. I hope the 4 you have survive!

Just found 3 cardinals alive so three more survivors! I just think it was a large amount of things going wrong at once. I did filter maintenance this week and a water change, this added to the high chemical levels in my tank must have caused this problem.
So good to see two of my angels swimming about and not looking too bad!!!
