Jelly dots on my rocks and plants
I found a bunch of round jelly type things on the rocks in one of my tanks They are clear in color like jelly fish. Could they be snail eggs? I would like to know what they are and how to get rid of them. I am a clean freek so I clean my tanks at least once or twice a week. Thanks

Maybe tadpole (bladder) snail or ramshorn snail eggs. Do you have a picture?

it's cool. when they hatch, they'll help you clean

Yes that is it but mine are like your small ones. How do you get rid of them. I don't want them to help me clean. Thanks for sending the picture it was very helpful. I really appreciate it. If you have them do you know if it is the ramshorn eggs. How could it be tadpole bladder? I don't have river water.

I have both, just from the LFS plants. I find tadpole snail eggs to be smaller and more clear, often with the mass laid in a "C" shape and the eggs pretty clearish-white. The ramshorn look a bit more yellowy, the eggs are slightly bigger and more easily noticeable within the jelly mass, and masses are frequently are "O" shaped. Both, when the very first hatch, look like very small drops of jelly themselves. But if you watch carefully these are moving across the glass and as the get bigger you can start to see the shape of the shell clearly. I think both are beneficial for my planted tanks but if you don't want them, don't feed as much; you could also try to scrape off the masses before they hatch. I think some people try poisoning them using copper but that is a pretty drastic way to go about it, I don't know the protocol for that.

Bonnie:
You can just keep them. They look like just snail eggs. If your tank is kept very clean, you would not have too many. Fish will eat the babies (some).100gal Tetra and plant tank --20 Cardinals, 7 Neons, 12 Emporer Tetras, 12 Black Phantoms (and one baby), 4 Angels, 8 corys (Robinea), and 4 Bushy-noses.
120 gal Barbs and guramis with plants--13 Snakeskin barbs, 16 Brass Tetras, 16 Bleeding Hearts, 12 Calico Tetras, 3 Pearl Gouramis (only one male), 8 corys (Axlerodi), and 2 BN plecos.

you have 17 tanks, right? I suggest getting some pea puffers. they are 100% fresh water, and if you ever get a snail infestation, you can just swap tanks. put them in the snail tank, and they'll clear them all out. with or without snails, they're a great addition to any collection
