I have shrimp( amanos and RCS) purchased from a pet store and they were kept with fish being treated for ICH. Shrimp are fine and have been in my QT tank for 8 days. I know shrimp are not a host to the ich and I did not pour the pet store water into my tank. How long can the ick live without a host and when would you introduce the shrimp into my 50 G planted/ fish tank?

If you didn't introduce any of the pet store water into the tank, then you shouldn't have introduced the ich, because it wouldn't have come in on the shrimp as they aren't hosts of it.

I believe the incubation period for ich varies with the temperature of the water. at cooler/cold water temps the incubation period is longer.. it is often said the leave the tank fallow for 30 days to allow the ich to run thru it's life cycle.
