Last Sunday I noticed that my breeding pair of convicts had a new family. For the past 5 days the babies have been in one of the various caves in the tank with the mother in and out and the daddy standing guard. Now I have noticed that the male fish moved into the middle of the tank at the bottom. Upon further investigation he is still where he was but there are approx 10 fry with him while the female is back at the cave with the rest of the fry inside.

I havent seen this behavior before. Has anyone else seen it and know if it means anything?

Dunno if its impt but its a 55 gal tank with 2 other female convicts and 2 firemouths.

It could be that in moving at some point some got separated and he is guarding them until they can reunite with the original herd
