As the title says, I am looking for a really good guide to corals to ID them and the care for them. I have found some, but they seem too general like a one or two page section to cover all Tree Coral.

Coral's of the World by Vernon. It is expensive ($100+).

Otherwise you can typically get a good enough ID on the web. Good enough to base ID on polyp structure, etc. From there you can typically base placement and care of a coral. One of many examples...

Yeah hard to beat the web, especially if you're trying to break down the ID to specific morphs and what not. Anything I've never been able to positively ID myself I make a post here or another forum and usually have my ID in an hour or two tops.

OK so I think I might have found some good basic guides.

Corals: A Quick Reference Guide (Oceanographic Series) - Julian Sprung; Hardcover

[h=3]Aquarium Corals : Selection, Husbandry, and Natural History by Eric H. Borneman, Scott W. Michael and Janine Cairns-Michael (Mar 2001)[/h]
The biggest problem was too many photos varied and some species look to similar. Kenya Tree vs. colt coral, these two are post as the same for some people. clue, after talking to local shop, who is soft slimy and who is think sponge like.
I ordered the books and now I just have to wait till they arrive.
