I picked up what I think is a thin stripe hermit sometime back he hitchhiked in with a few dwarf hermits. He's getting pretty large now, he's currently occupying a mexican turbo shell which are the biggest shells I currently have. What would be the proper shells to get for his future moves?

Pic just in case my ID is wrong.

Not sure that species would need anything larger than a turbo snail shell, but if it does the next size up would be a small conch shell. This crab was so big it would raise it claw and actually catch fish as they swam by. It was about as big as a closed fist.

Fighting conch and crown conch shells are about the biggest I've seen them in.

The turbo shell may be okay. It'd either be just a bit too small or perfect. Layout is a bit different so not sure.

And I believe your ID is correct.

Cool I'll look around see if I can get a smallish conch shell or two. From what I read thin stripes can get a little over 3" which would be a little to large for the current turbo shells i have. He's pretty bold and has had tug of wars over algae wafers with fish but his claws are to small to catch any fish.

I doubt they can take out a healthy fish. It's hard to get a good answer there since people will assume just about any crab can/will kill.

In my experience though they are too clumsy and the claws are too small to catch/kill. They'll gladly devour a fish though if its handed to them.
