i think the GPH is lower on the fx6.

Looking at the information I could quickly find on the two, the differences I readily saw were about $90 more expensive and darker coloring on the FX6. GPH, sizes, capacity of media/aquarium, pretty much everything else are identical between the two. Again, I want to reiterate that this is what I found on quick research; a more thorough examination may show different information.

well i just hope the price of the fx5 drops.

It might slightly, but I with the higher price of the FX6, most retailers may just let the FX5 sell out at retail price.
