I'm not having much luck finding a skimmer that will work with a 29BC without extensive mods. I tried a Hydor Slimskim last night - no dice, unless I ditch the bioballs in chamber 2, and even then it's going to be a struggle to get it to fit.
Taking off the lid is not an option. I have cats who are VERY interested in that tank.
Meantime, all the reviews I've seen of the skimmer made for the BC say it's worthless.
I'm changing 4 gl out of maybe 25 weekly. How much more/more often would I need to change to do without a skimmer?
