I know this is my first post and seems kinda negative but I feel so bad.

I am on here because I injured my goldfish. I was trying to siphon water out of the tank and she swam up to the siphon - well, you can probably guess what happened.

Long story short, she lost an eye :( I quickly took her out so the other fish don't gang up and kill her but I don't know what to do. How long should I keep her quarantined before letting her back with the others - if ever?

She is a new fish so I feel so bad that I brought her into a home only to injure her within a weeks time. Please help :(

Welcome to AC!

I would maintain QT in a properly cycled tank, alone, until the eye looks healed and no secondary infections develop. Plenty of water changes will aid in the recovery.

Once the wound is healed, there should be no problem re-introducing the fish. No reason the fish can't live a normal lifespan with one eye. Oh, and practice your siphoning skills, and most importantly, pay attention!
