Hey Guys,

So finally got all the necessary supplies for my new(a few months old now) 112G tank:) The canopy and stand are cherryish color and this is the new show tank in our living room!

EQUIPMENT

Filtration: Eheim Pro III Ultra 158G Canister Filter; Marineland Penguin 350 Bio-Wheel HOB
http://www.amazon.com/Eheim-2075-Pr...d=1369888645&sr=8-1&keywords=eheim+pro+3+2075
http://www.amazon.com/Marineland-Pe...F8&qid=1369888660&sr=1-1&keywords=penguin+350

Powerhead:
Koralia 1400-1500 Circulation Pump
http://www.amazon.com/Hydor-Evoluti...8&qid=1369888671&sr=1-1&keywords=koralia+1500

Heater:
2X Eheim Jager 300 Watts
http://www.amazon.com/EHEIM-Jager-A...369888681&sr=1-1-spell&keywords=eheim+300+wat

Substrate:
45 Liters of ADA New Amazonia
http://www.adana-usa.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=680

Lighting: 3X Aquaray GroBeam 1500 Ultima LED
http://greenleafaquariums.com/produ...0-ultima-natural-daylight-6500k-led-tile.html

Co2 System: Green Leaf Aquariums Optimum Co2 System; Inline Diffuser
http://greenleafaquariums.com/products/optimum-co2-system.html

So I basically went all out on equipment:) I had saved up $1500 and finally got to start this project:D My dad paid for Co2, and for half the lighting as it only costs $50 a year to run compared to T5s which would have costed $300+ plus cost of new bulbs

The plan for this tank is to be heavily planted with high lighting...Essentially, it will be a rainbow fish tank for at least a year, and then maybe I will switch out with adult discus, not likely though!

Current Stock:
  • 6 Red Irian Rainbows
  • 4 Dwarf Neon Rainbows
  • 4 Blue Turquoise Rainbows
  • 4 Sterbai Corys
  • 3 Yoyo Loaches
  • 1 Longfin ABN Pleco
  • 2 Clown Plecos
  • 1 Rhino Pleco
  • 1 Baby Green Dragon Pleco
Planned Stock:

  • 6 Red Irian Rainbows
  • 10 Dwarf Neon Rainbows
  • 6 Blue Turquoise Rainbows
  • 8 Sterbai Corys
  • 3 Yoyo Loaches
  • Pair/Trio Longfin ABN Pleco
  • 2 Clown Plecos
  • 1 Rhino Pleco
  • 6 Boesemani Rainbows (If I can find a good source...if you know of one, let me know!)
  • 6 Marbled Hatchetfish(maybe)
  • 1 Green Dragon Pleco

The tank has been running for almost 5 months now...Everything is stable...All I am waiting on is for some plants to arrive:) Hopefully by the end of June everything will be planted and ready to go! I just got the Co2 tank filled this morning and will be setting that all up this weekend! Lots of pics coming this weekend!!!

I will be updating this on a weekly basis...so as a journal! I will probably post daily for the first few months though!

Thanks for looking;)

Ritap-

Check out the aquabid for boesemani aytinjo by rosaline. He has had them up there for a few weeks now with no takers, but I bought from him in this same batch (he is local to me), and they colored up within an hour or two of coming home. I bought 5 of them, 2 were a little bigger (maybe 1.5"), the other 3 a little smaller, and I can now see yellow/orange on all 5 and blue on 3 of the 5...with those first 2 really doing well. I don't know the guy personally other than the hour my family and I spent at his house, but I had many conversations over email before buying them and feel he was correct in what he was saying about sourcing....his breeders were from eggs obtained directly from Gary Lange. I borrowed a DSLR camera and took this picture last night with it, only touch up done to the photo was the 'auto correct' on the Microsoft Picture Manager button, no fancy Photoshop.

Real nice set-up. Now, with patience, get some good plant growth, and it'll look smashing.
thanks:)

but none of these plants will be there in a few weeks haha...this is just grow out for other tanks because i wanted to test out the lights!

UPDATE:

You guys won't like this:(

Me being the idiot that I am, I broke an inexpensive, but important part of my Co2 system while setting it up today lol
I misread the directions and tightened the PERMASEAL using an ALLEN KEY instead of HAND TIGHTENING:( I mixed up the tightening info for the regulator(supposed to be tightened with tools) and permaseal(hand tighten only)...

So new planting pics will have to wait:( The new one will come in 2-3 weeks:( However, I will be planning the hardscape so I will have pics of that this weeking...I am going mtbing at a local trail with some creek sections on parts of the trail and will pick up some of the smaller rocks/DW!

You don't have a nylon washer? The regulator should have come with one. Even if you did buy the perma seal. Mine did. But anyway. Aquariumplants.com will ship one to you for free. Just the 4 bucks for the seal. They could get one to you in 2 or 3 days, not 2 or 3 weeks. Just a suggestion. http://www.aquariumplants.com/Perma_Seal_co2_cylinder_to_regulator_seal_p/perm1.htm

You should put a solid color background on your tank too. It will make the plants and fish stand out more. Black or light blue would be what I would do. Black if you plan on a jungle tank. Light blue if you go Amano or Dutch. Black always works though.

Definitely needs a background! Really nice stand and hood. It will be a stunner I have no doubt!

You really did go all out! And I think my wife hates you now....when I read how much you had spent, I was like, that seems like a lot...then we did a running total of what we have spent on my 75 so far. I am close to your total cost and I am not even close to finished yet. Needless to say I might be in the dog house...LOL.

Once your tank grows out it will look very nice!
