Hello fish friends!--and aquarists, of course!

My name is Sherri and I've been in the hobby for a long time now, but I was finally able to get a large aquarium, a 56 gallon Column.

I've gotten everything set up in this baby and I'm finally able to start adding fish.

The decor is a greek inspired idea of Atlantis with a good sized ruin piece for the fish to skirt through along with two dragons at the sides. These are bubblers too. I have a sand substrate.

I know this is for intro's but I do have a couple of questions I thought I'd go ahead and throw out there.

What plants grow in standard florescent lighting and sand? I need a tall species and a shorter species.

Then I wanted to ask about stocking.

I wanted to have:

Angelfish
Blue Ram(s)
Bala Sharks
Otto's
Corydoras
Schooling Fish (what would work?)

But how many should I add of each and in what order should I add them?

I want it to be balanced with top swimmers, middle, and bottom.

It's nice to meet everyone!

Sherri

Welcome to AC! Many folks will recommend skipping the balas....they are skittish, like to be in large groups and their adult size will exceed a small 56 gallon tank.
