I recently purchased the Aqueon LED light fixture and additional daylight bulb. The fixture is sleek with a low profile. Adding the bulb was easy and the lights are bright. I was a bit concerned about the 2 lunar lights but they seem adequate (for an empty tank). I'll update as the tank progresses.

Freshwater - Planted
I considered marine but just don't have the time to dedicate to it. With my work schedule, I really don't have time for a third tank but the other 2 don't require too much.

Good luck. I don't think those are particularly great at growing plants, presuming that I'm recalling information correctly.

I researched the fixture and it received great reviews. The only question I didn't get answered was daylight vs color max. It seems the one daylight bulb that comes with the fixture isn't enough so I got another one. Not clear if color max is for growing plants.

Overall, I'm pleased with the shimmering effect. It's only been a week since I added plants. They look healthy but not much growth . . . yet.

Is this the modular fixture? I thought it needed all three to get even low light PAR? I could easily be mistaken though...

Good luck with it. I'm going the planted LED route myself soon. Just seems to almost be a no brainer now that fixture prices are dropping.

Right now I have Bacopa sp., Alternanthera sp., and Amazon Sword sp. I won't add anything else until next month. If lighting is insufficient, then I'll get another bulb but I do see a little growth.

Jason, hopefully it works out for you plant-wise.

I tried some combinations of standard LEDs with plants to no avail. The tank was BRIGHT as heck and the lighting looked awesome, but apparently not enough PAR to grow and maintain even the lowest of light required plants.

Plant specific LED fixtures are a different animal.
