Saw this product as an alternative to std activated charcoal. Website says it is so good that it will last a year! I might try it for my chemical filter and as my substrate for my filterless betta tank

Don't see the reason. Looking through their "technical" data I don't see anything convincing either for why I'd spend money on it...though they do not list a specific price.

If aquariums were as easy as throwing in some AC we'd be well on our way already. Heck, seems like most people are avoiding it nowadays anyways. I'll spend my money elsewhere, especially on a substrate that's way more aesthetically pleasing.

Well, I use AC because my wife said my daughter can only get this tank if I can make sure the tank doesn't smell. She is very sensitive to certain smells. She hates days when I clean the filters in the bathroom. I use about 2 cups every 2 weeks. I also like how it keeps the watercrystal clear. If these balls are thatgood, I may try them.

Yeah, I also have a pouch of Purigen too but someone said it is selective about what it adsorbs. So I still use AC also.
