I've got a couple tanks with the larger finnex refugium/breeder boxes on them. I've filled them with lava rocks like you get for gas grills and place Golden Pothos or Philodendron cuttings in them for nutrient uptake.

The box I have is this one;

I never tried running them off of an air pump but instead went with the recommended(by amazon product suggestor thingy) with this small power head;

Then I used a Fluval edge prefilter sponge on the intake of the powerhead to help keep the level of silt in the breeder box down.

Everything works great but I'm not crazy about how the powerhead just hangs in the tank with it's power cord etc... Just adds to the clutter which I'd rather not have. I'm wondering if anyone has come up with ideas for how to mount the powerhead inside the breeder box so that it runs more like a traditional HOB filter and the only thing in the tank would be the intake tube with the prefilter sponge on it.

Thanks for any help/ideas

Adam
