Thanks ktrom
So I went to my LFS and was planning to replace the neons that died (another one died today) and when I got there I saw signs on all of the neon tanks that said "Fish not for sale." I talked to one of the employees and he told me that the owner recently took over all fish orders. He has been ordering the same fish from the same place despite the low survival rate. He was very upset and because they have a "48 hr return dead fish policy" they only sold 14 out of 250 fish from that order. He said the neon situation will be bad for a while.
So, I went with a six set school of long-fin zebra danios and they are so much more interesting. I also broke down and bought a gold ram that i wanted for my 20g long but will be going into my 29 with the danios.
I drip acclimated the neons to be placed in my girl friend's 2.5 gallon. it has a strong current so they are happy. We will QT them in there, hopefully they make it but most likely not.
I washed the qt tank by siphoning all the water out and pouring 2gallons in while the last few inches were draining and then waiting until all the water was gone. Filled it back up.
then i prepared the new stock for QT
The ram is very clean and loving the planted qt tank session.
I cant wait until he can be in the 29 gallon community
