Never thought I'd be setting up a tank I'm a dorm again, but here goes nothing...
I'm looking at getting an all in one, probably about 30gal. I believe my Mac size allowed is 50gal. But I just won't have the time for that.

This is currently just planning and day dreaming. Feel free to pitch ideas!

If you won't have time for a 50, why will you have time for something smaller that requires more attention to remain stable? Not discouraging, just honestly don't understand the thinking.

Sooooo here's where the dreams start!!

http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=23662
- my only issue with that, and other bioaquacubepods is the skimmer. They seem rather dinky and inefficient.

For substrate....

-perhaps a larger grain underneath. I am concerned on how this will blow around in the tank though.

Live rock

- I plan on getting the rock first and letting it cure for a month or so in a rubbermaid tub.
Live Stock
http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=497+499+869&pcatid=869
- I have always wanted a rose bubble tip, this and the clowns will be the center piece of my tank
http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=15+27+1114&pcatid=1114
- Not these clowns specifically, but I want a pair of black misbar clowns.

- A prebuilt package for a clean up crew, to start things off. I'll make things more diverse and specific once I establish the clean up needs of my tank

- I love blennies and would love to add their personality and colors to the tank :)
--the midas might get too large for theh tank sadly.

As for corals....I want them all :nilly:

I meant more so on the dosing, testing, hauling more water from the LFS, mixing more salt, etc.... I have time for a tank but I'll be working 4 12 hours shifts a week and wanted something smaller and more compact. Also, I don't have the space for a large tank.

For skimmers just dont buy the cheap oceanic/coralife one, plenty of people have modified other skimmers to work in the cubes, specifically tunze and aquaticlife are popular with them. Personally I kinda hate the dinky dimensions on the cubes for about the same money you could do a glass 29 with a good skimmer, led's, and pump, still not big but gives 10" of more front viewing.

Ill check those skimmers out!

I thought about going with something not all in one. But because it is a military dorm that is subject to room inspections at any time, usually without notice, I wanted it to be as neatly contained as possible

I got both skimmers if you can swing it the tunze is better but the aquaticlife is alot cheaper at like $60 and does pretty good job for the money it tends to skim pretty wet though. Not sure which is the easiest install on the hqi cube though.
