So I found a few patches of red slime on my sand after getting home today, just got the red slime treatment. But do I turn off my pump leading to the sump and keep the power heads on to keep some flow going? So the treatment stays in the tank and does not get filtered out. Thanks in advance

You can run the sump pump and a filter sock but no carbon, skimming, GFO, etc.

Cyano is not uncommon in a newer tank and may be a result of low flow/dead spots as well as overfeeding.

Don;t forget to do the water changes after treatment.

I agree:
“Cyano is not uncommon in a newer tank and may be a result of low flow/dead spots as well as overfeeding.”
and add to this point
*Lighting; Cyanobacteria thrives when there is an excess of green or yellow light wave length energy

*Also consider Mexican Dwarf Hermit Crabs (Clibanarius digueti) as a possible red slime removers
