Hi,

I am setting up a new tank with 125Lx45Wx40H dimensions. It will be moderately planted. I have Eheim 2213 external filter that I am not using right now. It says it is ok for up to 250L tanks. Will this filter be sufficient for this tank?

Maybe? It's pushing it for that filter, so it depends on what you want to keep in the tank. If you're looking to keep relatively low bio-load fish (tetras, barbs, gouramis, and the like) and some plants it should be fine. If you're looking to keep messier fish (cichlids, for instance) then you'll likely want more filtration. The number of fish also matters. What are your plans for the tank?

I'd double the filtration then and disperse it well with spray bars.

It cycles 440 L/H so it will approximately filter 2 times an hour. I guess I'll try by one and if it is inadequate I will add another 2213 to the tank.

I've had better luck with plants when circulation is above 5 times an hour. that does not have to be all filtration, a power head can fill in for part of the flow. Plants can use up the nutrients in a layer next to them and then starve if the flow isn't enough to move that boundary layer. Personally I shoot for closer to 10x circulation in my planted tanks.

I found a Jebo 829 which has 1500 L/H (not sure it can reach that flow). At least it will have more flow. How about this filter with Eheim contents?
