I found this great deal on Craigslist; the tank, stand (solid oak that I didn't use, but will sell), light fixture (standard black will also sell), 110 AquaClear filter and 250 Watt Aqueon Pro filter and two Clown Loach and one bristlenose. I had to drive to Detroit from Cleveland, a 5 hour round trip, but got it all for $150. !!!

The steel stand on the other hand cost me more. I had a former student of mine, majoring in sculpture at Youngstown State University build it to my specifications at a cost of $80 for the steel and $120 labor = $200. Then I spent an additional $50 on JB Weld (to make a slight adjustment in the leveling of the top so the base of the tank would set flush), sandpaper, primer and 4 coats of enamel paint. I had to paint it at another college where I teach, having a large spray booth, because it is too cold outside in Cleveland. In the end the new stand cost me $250.

In addition the two new lights came to $140 and the flourite gravel $50. In the end I spent about $600 on the set up.... This can be an expensive hobby!!!
