Hey everyone, so I am going to upgrading my lighting for my 75g to a 4 bulb shop light. Eventually I would like to close it in with some 2x4 so you don't see it and I had an idea I need help fabricating. I want to be able to have the light sitting on top of the tank so there is not gap, like there would be with a handing light, but I want a way to be able to crank a lever and have it raise up. Total midevil still.

Let me know any ideas!!!

Just like that!!!! Only it doesn't have to be electric. Something like the set up on a boat trailer would work crank and locks.

it would be even more awesome if instead of the canopy raising, the tank lowered into the floor.

would make maintenance easier for shorties too.!

Sweet looking fish, looks like you have 2 definite pairs there.

I think you need schematics for the other end of the rope, you'll want something that is going to need winding in either direction to avoid the whole thing crashing down on the tank.

Instead of a crank how about a boat loop??
Found this thread, it's amazing the amount of work he put in. Too much for me, but still awesome!!

Very cool!

You could use a harbor freight tools hand crank or even an electric winch, or rig it up with a piano hinge in the back and some gas struts like the top of a big mechanic's tool box.

The sky is the limit!
