Firstly, what do ram eggs look like?

Secondly, how does ram behaviour change when they are breeding?

I bought a pair of rams just over a week ago. For the first week the male chased the female constantly and she kept hiding, but over the weekend she looked a lot more relaxed and didn't swim away from him.

This morning she wouldnt come out for food. She was hiding in the back corner of the tank behind some bogwood. I am wondering whether she is guarding a clutch of eggs.

I've only seen them deposit their eggs out in the open, and then jealously guard them. The eggs are small, white, and sticky. The male and female take equal responsibility for them.

They can be quite a bit more aggressive towards tank mates at this time.

The only thing that concerned me was that you didn't mention if the female looked like she was in breeding condition. (Full of eggs.) Although they may breed freely on a flake diet, it's best to condition the pair prior to breeding, with live foods, frozen tubifex and such.
