can somebody help me really quick with math? I had to take basic math in college and I always hated math since a kid. Can you show your work so I can see how it's done please.

there are 5280 feet in a mile. What fraction of a mile is represented by 2640 feet?

2640 / 5280 = .5 .5 = 1/2

Thanks that kind of helps a little. I'm stuck on this problem as well it's the last one I need to do. The outer wall of the pentagon is 24in thick. Ten inches is concrete, 8in is brick, and 6in is limestone. What fraction of wall is concrete?

To get a true answer to the pentagon, you would need to know which material is where....

When you're doing unit conversions you always multiply by the conversion factor.

in this case 1 mi = 5280 ft can be written as 1mi/5280ft or as 5280ft/1mi both are the same since it's the same distance on top and on bottom.

Because the two numbers are equal they can be written as a fraction with either being the numerator (top number) and the other being the denominator (bottom number). Since you want to know how many miles as your result write the fraction with miles as the numerator, and multiply it by your number.

The unit feet will cancel out from top and bottom.

2640ft * 1mi/5280ft = (2640/5280) (ft*mi/ft) = (2640/5280)mi = 1/2 mi

know some conversion factors and it's really easy from there you can chain them together as well.
