In the corner of my aquarium I would like to put an "air" volcano, i.e. silicon rocks together in the shape of a volcano and put some kind of a plastic bag inside that fills with air and "erupts" when it is full. I am concerned about the glass behind this volcano. With the excess supply of oxygen, is this part of the aquarium going to be more prone to algae buildup? I am guessing that my snails and plecostomus will not like to hang out there.

Shouldn't be an issue, I've used airstones up against the glass in the past with no algae or other issues.

If the bag is inflated with a pump pulling atmosphere "air", it is mostly Nitrogen anyway, and not Oxygen. This will not cause algae.

This is a very interesting idea. Please post pictures if it gets beyond the idea stage.
