I have this banana plant who's leaves are rotting after about a week after they open on average. This is occurring in both submerged and surface leaves / lilly pads. I have other plants that are doing great and are not showing any signs of rotting. The "bananas" are rotting as well but I am aware that, that is normal once the plant has established and its nutrient needs are being met. The longest a leaf has lasted was about a month (max).

Tank Perimeters (Approximately):

Gallons: 13

Temp: 76-78

ph: 6.6

Nitrite: 0.1 ppm

Nitrate: 8 ppm

Water: Fairly Hard

Lighting: Two High Output T5s (at about 6 1/2 hours a day)

I have a few in my low-tech, low light 12G and yup the leaves melt away too. I'm thinking my light is too low for these guys. But you seem to have more light but perhaps not enough as well. These plants need medium light. I just moved them into a different tank with brighter light, so I'll see what happens in their new home.
